Newborn Baby Bedroom Decorations

For the first several weeks of life, a newborn only sees things within a 10-inch range, since his eyesight develops as he grows. One way to decorate a newborn baby’s bedroom is by adding visually stimulating elements.

Wall Hanging

Put up a fabric wall hanging, such as a colourful quilt or a series of themed fabric panels. Paint the panels or cut out fabric shapes and stitch them on with contrasting thread. The zoo, in combination with the alphabet, provides enough material for at least 26 different panels; choose the letters of your baby’s name and an animal for each letter, and put together large wall hangings.

Mobile

Mobiles are so fascinating to most babies that their mothers can sneak in five-minute showers while they watch it turn. Mass-market mobiles usually have a key for winding and play a lullaby tune. Homemade mobiles make use of nearly any type of craft or art, including origami, family photographs, hand-knit objects and paper cutouts.

Cutout Lampshade

Babies are fascinated by light, especially in a dark room. Incorporate a small table lamp with a shade that has shapes cut out of it. The light will elongate those shapes across the walls. Some cutout lamps are made to turn in circles when they are on, throwing ever-changing shadows and light on the bedroom walls.
